On Mission

Our Vision.

Glorifying God among all peoples through sending workers and planting healthy churches.

We aim to be a church on mission that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, faithfully equips, assesses, supports, and sends elder-qualified pastors and gospel workers from our congregation—especially to the least reached—to evangelize, make disciples, and establish indigenous local churches. As we hold the rope through prayer, sacrificial generosity, and long-term partnership, we labor together with a network of like-minded churches for a global harvest, trusting Christ to build His church in every place He sends us.

From Louisville to the nations, we exist to glorify God by planting and strengthening healthy, gospel-preaching churches so that the knowledge of the glory of the LORD fills the earth as the waters cover the sea.

We Send.

We desire that every worker be known, sent, and cared for.

Our international workers are:

Assessed and affirmed by the Church – Elder-qualified men may be sent as apostolic church planters or missionaries to plant and strengthen healthy churches in places of recognized gospel need. Men and women may be assessed and appointed as international co-workers serving under qualified elders on church planting teams.
Known, equipped, and tested – Men and women grow as members in good standing, shaped by the ordinary means of grace, adult education, pastoral apprenticeship, mission nights, and service in the body.
Trained for long-term faithfulness – We encourage international workers to complete pre-field training, including language and culture acquisition and cross-cultural living skills, through trusted partners as they prepare for 2+ years on the field.

Sending doesn’t end with commissioning.

Immanuel is committed to ongoing, meaningful partnership through:

Rope-Holder Teams – Each international worker forms a team of at least six adults who “hold the rope” through regular prayer, communication, advocacy, and care as they labor on the field.
Prayer as a whole church – In prayer gatherings and adult classes, we regularly pray by name for international and North American partners, as well as for specific unreached people groups connected to our church partners.
Shared resources and sacrificial giving – Each year, Immanuel sets aside a significant portion of its regular giving to support sending, church planting, and revitalization in North America and around the world.
Ongoing accountability and fellowship – Our workers maintain regular contact with Immanuel’s pastors and members, returning periodically to give updates, receive encouragement, and remain closely tethered to the sending church.

In all of this, we want our sent ones to know: Immanuel is not just the place they came from—Immanuel is the church that goes with them.

By God’s grace, Immanuel currently has 21 missionary units—singles, couples, and families—sent out from our congregation to serve among the nations. These workers are laboring in cross-cultural contexts to evangelize, make disciples, and help plant and strengthen healthy, gospel-preaching churches. As a church, we pray for them by name, give sacrificially to sustain their work, and stay closely connected as they serve Christ around the world.
